Since Deep Blue II 1997, when Kasparov lost, super-GM's play more defensively
in a public match against the top PC programs.

The human GM's are not willing to risk an overall match loss, so they
play with less risk. Their hubris and arrogance and contempt for computers
was somewhat tempered by 1997 so they play more for equality.

It's a much harder person to beat to get the full point when risk-averse.

It may be a number more years (than just the intervening 7 so far)
before a computer defeats the world champ(s) again in a public match.

So in the case of your question, I think the humans would tie
or beat the computers, most likely continue to play drawishly
and tie.

You just can't get that kind of Deep Blue II speed out of AMD and INTEL
without a sponsor supplying tons of machines in parallel and the program
really being above the current crop. Besides that you need to tweak the
evaluation function between games so that the super-GM cannot get a lock
on the style.

Curious what kind of parallel set of AMD64's would be required to get
the Deep Blue II speed and depth of 1997... AMD is an up and coming
company -- they would benefit some. Has anyone asked them to sponsor
a public match against a super-GM using their new AMD64?
