Crafty's hardware was similar to that of the three favourites Junior, Fritz and Shredder. When it is about book I feared Shredder in the first round (mainly because it was the first round and I had no clue what to expect). I also feared Deep Sjeng some, because I expected the book to be done by Jeroen Noomen (which was wrong) and it was the first try with the Berlin wall. Although the game was quite uneventful it apparently scared future opponents away from Ruy Lopez mainlines, so one might consider it a minor successful Swiss sac :) Fritz's book would have been something to fear but it continued with its Nf3, g3 stuff in this tournament that leads to pure engine-only fight, and I already knew it before the round. Junior was funny. Shortly before the game Boris Alterman and Shay Bushinsky had some computer running, checking lines, opponent being Crafty 19.14. From a distance I always saw sth like an early Bxf7+! , Bxg6!, which felt a bit scary - but in the actual game this didn't materialize. > >this perhaps because of hardware, book, the software itself, > >who were you most worried about and who weren't you, >i am sure you worried about others more than some, it is only natural. I felt bad during games against Diep and IsiChess; I was the least worried during the game against FIB. Peter
