As much in the spirit of some reclamations that have ben made here what matter in a competition is not the best chess output possible, but the better refined and elegant software, I propose the follwing rules to an eventual fair, future competition a) Hardware cannot be superior than a 8088 PC. Anything faster than that is sheer abuse and just -and at best- a show of hardare proficiency, not of chess programming wit and acumen. b) For the same reason a program cannot be larger than 8 Kb. Anything larger than that is making unfair use of available memory addresses offered by current devices and going beyond the economy in lines-writting that elegance demands. c) no openning book alouded because this is a confrontation of wits, not of books d) search limit of only 3 half moves or you just get the upper hand on the ground of brute force e) BASIC programming language is a must. Anything better than that is just to take advantage of progress in areas alien to specific chess computers field. In fact the very best thing to do would be NOT bringing a completely assembled or writen code, but a shit of paper with the ideas that should be implemented to do so some day. In that way you put aside any kind of exogenous tool that viciously enhance a program beyond he wit of his author. Now I oly need some advices about tye name for this orunament, the first and only REAL one in prsent times to be ever performed. ferdinan Organizer
