Subject: Surely someone knows how to program for X11 / unix here?

... to solve the problem that there is no automatic way at present on a Unix or
OSX system to analyse a game one is observing on the ICC.

I'm reposting this as no-one replied before, not even to say "impossible!"

What I do manually at the moment is to run both xboard and scid at the same
time. I run an engine to analyse the current position under scid and when the
position changes I do either:

[xboard] File->Copy Position ..... [scid] Edit->Paste Start Board

or

[xboard] File->Copy Game ... [scid] Tools->Import one PGN game->Import->Close

Now is it a simple or possible programming task to write either an X11 utility
(or an Applescript) that

(a) watches the xboard window for a change in position

and then

(b) executes one of the above clipboard transfers from xboard to scid
automagically?

If you could write this then your name will be entered in the Unix/Chess Hall of
Fame forever!
