I think that it is important to do a speed rating of chess programs We can take as a basis Pentium200MMX with a speed rating of 100 for all the programs and find the speed rating of programs in different hardware If pentium400 is 1.5 times faster than Pentium200MMX for Fritz5 then Fritz5's speed rating for pentium400 will be 150 If the same hardware is 2 times faster for Junior5 then Junior5's speed rating for pentium400 will be 200. I think that the ssdf list is misleading because they use Pentium200 and do not tell the public that Fritz5 is optimized for this machine. If they will do also a speed rating list it can solve this problem. Uri
