In the PV means *inside* of the alpha-beta window (exact score). You sound like you might be talking about whether or not to try null move at PV nodes, which is a different topic (and only used for fail high, which means the node is not in the PV after all). I don't know of any PVS-like engine (or alpha-beta based for that matter) which allows null move in the PV. Fabien.
