A few things.

Our network folks monitor all campus activity. ftp.cis.uab.edu is always at the
top of the list, called the "big talker" on campus. It averages 70 megabits per
second, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. At times it burns past 90 mbits per
second, commonly right after a new crafty version or new egtb batch.

I quit counting a couple of years ago after we received hits from over one
million unique IP addresses. When you factor in major ISPs like AOL have
thousands of users per IP, that's a big number. I quit counting when we passed
1M and turned the logging off to save time/space.
