Subject: Compiling Crafty... some questions...

Author: Peter Skinner

I usually compile Crafty with the Intel 8.0 compiler, but recently others have
been able to attain much higher benchmarks than my exe's using the Microsoft
Visual C++ Toolkit 2003 compiler.

When I try to use that compiler with the following options:

cl /O2 /G7 /Ob2 /Ox /GB /GL /DNT_i386 /arch:SSE /DEPD /DUSE_ASSEMBLY /DEPD
/DVC_INLINE_ASM /DFUTILITY -o craftyx crafty.c egtb.cpp

I get an exe that is _much_ slower than my Intel builds. Yet Byran Hofmann is
able to attain much higher bench results.

Is there something that I am not doing, or should be adding? I am compiling for
the target P4/Athlon with SSE instructions.
