Michael, I am pretty much in the same boat you are. For years I played about 1
game a year.I knew how the pieces moved and little else! My son started playing
at school, we got our first computer, now I am an addict!!! A book I would
recommend is Chess for Dummies. It starts from the ground-up and is laid out in
an easily followed way. My first Program was chess master 4000 which I picked
out of the games-bin at comp-usa for 9 dollars. also see the posting RE:
learning the ropes from Komputer Korner for a list of web sites.Good Luck!!!
