Thanks for your time. If you are planning on playing against it yourself, no, you do not need a dual processor. Unless you are a chess genius of whom we have not yet heard, any of the top programs will be much too hard for you on a single processor system. Indeed, the best programs will be too hard for you on a PDA. You need to tell us more about yourself to get a useful recommendation: - how good a player are you? Beginner, occasional player, club standard or better? - what do you want to do with the computer chess program? Play the computer, analyze your own games, analyze GM games, watch the computer play other computers, or something else?
