Yesterday I said I would test my book with Hiarcs on the Playchess server and post the results here. Well last night I registered the account just fine, but when it asked for my serial number, the box popped up, but for some reason I couldn't type in the areas allowed. I thought something had gone wrong with my installation. So I uninstalled all the Chessbase materials I had, installed Hiarcs 9 again, and tried to connect to the playchess server. Again the little box popped up asking me for my serial number, and again I couldn't type in the box. So I pushed cancel and it allowed me to login, so I asked if others had the problem I was having, and no one was. I was stumped. Then I thought of the service pack. I uninstalled that, and of course since I had installed the Chessbase product, I had to remove that _again_ as it no longer worked after I had uninstalled the service pack for Windows. I reinstalled everything and finally was able to type in my code and everything is working again. I will be playing games this evening on the server, and will post them later. If you are using that server pack, and odd things are happening, uninstall it, and you might find everything is ok. Silly me was using a beta product on a Microsoft platform. I must have been drunk when I installed it :) Peter
