Don't bother.

Get fink. I mentioned this last week. Don't sit there thinking about it, DO IT
NOW!

http://fink.sourceforge.net/download/

It is a package manager for OSX: the easiest way of installing a wide variety of
*nix programs, often from precompiled binaries.

Once you have got fink, get Fink Commander:

http://finkcommander.sourceforge.net/

It is an Aqua GUI for fink.

Run Fink Commander, type scid into the search box and choose binary install, and
everything will just happen. It will fetch any *other* packages you need
("dependencies") automatically.
