Chessmaster thinks the moves are about equal:
   Ng4 Qxe3 Nxe3 d4 Nd5 1.72
   Re2 Bd6 Qd4 Bf7 Nc6 Qh6 Rcc2 1.76

Shredder 7.04 thinks Nc4 is better:
   Ng4 Qxe3 Nxe3 d4 Nd5 2.46
   Re2 Bf6 Rce1 Qxe5 Qxe5 Rxe5 2.16

I think Nc4 gives white better chances, since the Re2 line is pretty drawish.

Speaking of simplifying, if black allows his bishop to be exchanged for the
knight in the following position, seems like it makes it much easier for white
to go for the win:
[d]8/4k1N1/1p2b2p/2bp4/5P1p/1P1B3P/P3K1P1/8 b - - 0 56 bm ?
