A few other OSX chess essentials for you:

1) Free clients for the ICC (Internet Chess Club) where you can play games and
watch relays of major GM games even as a guest:

http://baldwin.orcsoftware.com/~jocke/chessic/

You can also use fink to install eboard

2) A different chess database to scid, written in Java:

http://jose-chess.sourceforge.net/

3) Two good commercial chess engines (both stronger than crafty) which include
versions for OSX:

http://www.lokasoft.nl/ruffian.htm (OSX engine on the CDROM)

http://www.lokasoft.nl/uk/deepsjengintro.htm (fully working OSX engine available
in the free 1.6 downloadable upgrade)
