Put the following line at the start of your .profile file and Terminal will find the X11 display properly: export DISPLAY=:0.0 ( You can test this just by typing the above line in a Terminal and then typing xboard or scid , but unless it is in .profile your Terminal will not remember it for next time ) Also, what does your echo $PATH show?
