After all, using time wisely... :-) I set s soft time limit and a hard time limit. When the soft one runs out I move unless: 1. I'm resolving a root fail high or fail low 2. I'm searching move 2..N at the iteration (the assumption being that with a little more time I'll finish the iteration) 3. I've seen a lot of fail lows at the root and think this is an "interesting position". 4. I'm about to trade down into a KP endgame etc... In those cases I keep searching until the situation is resolved or the hard timer expires. Scott
