Hi Uri, yes, currently Spike limits the "maximal depth" excluded qsearch to twice the nominal depth. We haven´t added exception to this rule in Spike like increase the maximal depth in some cases (as crafty or rebell does). Spike hasen´t got pruning rules so far, except nullmove-pruning. Crafy shows that you can get pretty good without much pruning (except nullmove and q-search SEE -pruning). I believe that the implementation of pruning can improve playing strength but will make it more hard to improve eval because of "interferences" with pruning rules. Thus we will implement better eval and better search rules and start to implement more pruning when we can´t find improvements in eval or search "easily". Thanks for the hint, I´ll do a test run with increased maximal depth - never did this. Greetings Volker
