For chess, I'm not sure that you will go wrong either way.  Before you drop you
wad-o-cash, however, consider this.

Is there a possibility that you will use this computer for anything else.

What do the systems offer and how will you use it completely.

I two plan to get a dual 64 bit system "some day".
I would get more use out of the Apple so for me, a no-brainer.
