Subject: Buy Another Chess Program? "Show me the money!!!"

A statement that must freighten most Chess programmers "I ALREADY OWN FRITZ 5".
What is to be done? Why buy Rebel 10, Genius 6 or Mchess 8 when i can't tell
that any of these programs will be significantly stronger than the previous
versions? Much less that they will be any stronger than fritz 5, as for those
who claim Fritz isn't the strongest, i would say well it's percieved by most
consumers as the strongest(as far as features probably everyone thinks it's the
best); and that's what you have to deal with. I think fritz5 is the strongest.
I don't want to see the competition start to dwindle! I'm afraid that the
success currently enjoyed by chessbase and fritz, will allow them the ability to
forge quite a large gap between themselves and the competitors. I know that for
economic reasons many of the programmers seem to think they need to put out a
new version every six months, but i'm telling you the only thing that can bring
REAL SUCCESS, is REAL IMPROVEMENT! I'm sorry to say, that the products
currently bieng released just don't cut the mustard. Why release a program 10
points stronger when a 10 point difference more than likely isn't greater than
the statistical error? In fact I can make an upgrade just as good by getting a
better opening book. As for the cosmetic touch ups(databases etc.) well all i
have to say is "I ALREADY OWN FRITZ 5" If the whole cosmetic(not to make
databses sound unimportant) impact is not GREATER or equal to fritz 5 why should
i buy it?

CONVINCE ME TO get these new products!

I think selling style should be in you guys immediate feature, I love
chessmasters 5500 style! So, even though in the past according to you
pundits(don't you love bieng a pundit:)?" Chessmaster doesn't add up to the so
called upper class programs, it wont take too much to push me to buy chessmaster
6000 if it's significantly stronger with the same style.
