Subject: DS8 - GM Petr Kiriakov 1/2 - 1/2 PGN

Author: Martin Müller

Date: 23:03:43 07/30/04

Hi all,

HW = Dual xeon 3.06 2GB RAM, 3-5man egt and some 6 man egt. Total ca. 50 GB.

The game was partially very interesting when DS8 tried to attack on the
Queenside after castellig to the queen's side by Petr. DS8 did not succeed. The
rook of DS8 was something like "burried" and had at the end no meaningful
function anymore. The machine believed until the very end (30 moves too many)
being a rook ahead. It never realised that it was since late 90 moves dead
drawn. The opening within the pawn chain brought in the endgame still some
dynamic. Petr always intended to win this game. That however was not a very easy
task. DS8 had depth until 31 halfmoves in the endgame.

Regards
Martin
