Your results are interesting, but not conclusive. Ingo Bauer said that some
German magazines were testing it and thought the difference from Shredder 8 to
be *less* than what SMK announced, and then there are the results he himself
obtained. Out of curiosity could you give more details on your testing? Were
both engines using different CPUs (does Arena know how to properly do this?),
how much hash memory was used, and finally what opening books?

In any case, the fact is that it is a new and different commercial engine and as
such deserving of being tested on the SSDF list. I was always under the
impression that SSDF's priority in testing was for commercial engines, weak or
not. If pure strength were the issue, then why bother testing stand-alones today
or Palm versions of engines, which are bound to be weaker than a top PC engine
on a top PC?
