How exactly did you install it? Via the Setup program, or manually? Also, are
you using the latest UCI.dll from Chessbase? If not, go to
http://www.chessbase.com/download/index.asp?cat=UCI%2DEngines
I tested and have had no problems in the Fritz 8 GUI.
