It seems that Pro Deo does not recognize protover 2 command. I installed Pro Deo under Winboard. It plays games OK. One time I launched Winboard with Pro Deo and immediately tried to set up a position and analyze it. Pro Deo analized the initial position instead of mine. I looked into the winboard.debug file. It seems that Pro Deo did not recognize protover 2 command. Winboard understood that Pro Deo does not know protocol 2 commands (e.g. "setboard" command) and send old "edit" command from the protocol 1. See the winboard.debug file: recognized 'normal' (-1) as variant normal WinBoard 4.2.7 + ProDeo Reset(1, 0) from gameMode 0 recognized 'normal' (-1) as variant normal GameEnds(0, (null), 2) StartChildProcess (dir="d:\prodeo") ProDeo -W1 550 >first : xboard protover 2 600 <first : info:misc:[2J 600 <first : info:misc: Pro Deo (August 2004) 600 <first : info:misc: Copyright é2004, by Ed Schr¡der, The Netherlands 600 <first : info:misc: http://members.home.nl/matador/index.htm 600 <first : info:misc: matador@home.nl 600 <first : info:misc: 600 <first : W e l c o m e t o R E B E L 12.0 600 <first : 1480 <first : Error (Invalid input): protover 2 1480 >first : new random 1480 >first : level 0 10 0 1480 >first : post 1480 >first : hard 1480 >first : easy 7140 >first : force 43550 >first : new random 43550 >first : level 0 10 0 43550 >first : post 43550 >first : hard 43550 >first : easy 43550 >first : force 43550 >first : edit 43550 >first : # 43550 >first : Ke5 43550 >first : Bf1 43550 >first : Ng1 43550 >first : c 43550 >first : Ke8 43550 >first : . 43550 >first : analyze 43550 <first : Error (Invalid input): edit
