I don't agree. Of the 6 participants, Junior is the only one that makes clear
sense as it is the reigning World Champion. However, Hydra has won one
tournament, and isn't even doing that amazingly on the Playchess server, if
that's a reference. And much as I admire Fritz, it loses to Shredder in both the
SSDF rating lists and the WC titles. The human players are the same. I have the
utmost respect for them, and look forward to the games, but to claim they are
the absolute best humanity has to offer is ridiculous, barring Topalov, but
especially Karjakin. Either they should be the best human players period, or the
best players against computers. Still, what is meant is that without clearer
reasons for the players selected, or some form of qualifying process, it is
impossible to claim a World Championship in which *many* other candidates could
easily come ahead if they were allowed a chance to participate. It is a purely
invitational event with a fancy but meaningless title.
