I read the May 13, 2001 Support article on the Fritzmark. It says: Nodes -- This number will typically be close to, but a bit less than, the clock speed of your processor. This figure is not affected by the size of the hash tables -- it's strictly determined by the speed of the processor. I ran the Deep Fritzmark test on my Pentuim 4 2.4 Ghz labtop with 76 Mb hash and the number was only 832 kN/s with a Deep Fritzmark of 432 after 5 test. This is only 1/3 my clock speed. I though it had to do with my computer being a single processor. However, I read the review and it said: But you don't need a multi-processor machine to be able to run DF8 -- it'll work just fine with a single processor. I tried the test on my other computer. A 800 Mhz Intel Celeron Processor. I used 76 Mb hash and I got 357 kN/s and a Deep Fritzmark of 187 after 5 test. This 357 kN/s is no where near my clock speed either. I ran these test at different times and different days and the results were still the same. I even tried running the Fritzmark on my 233 Mhz computer with fritz 7 and 10 Mb hash. I got a fritzmark of 65 and 60 kN/s. This number is almost 1/4 of my clock speed. Even when I'm playing a game vs Deep Fritz8 on my 2.4 Ghz computer, its only analyzing at 840 kN/s. The most I've seen it get to is 900 kN/s. When I use fritz, I don't have any programs open, no music and nothing in my taskbar. So it can't be that any program is hogging cpu power. Does anyone have any idea why the engine is analyzing at such a slow speed?
