On my machine, the available rating range is 1660-2595. Are you starting the program without hashtables using the command MCP8/0? This will reduce the rating by 100 ELO. Also, if you deselect the MCP opening books, that will also reduce its playing strength. The variety book is 50 ELO, standard book is 100 ELO, and tournament book is 150 ELO. So without opening books, MCP8 playing strength is -150 ELO.
