Fischer was correct after all, most of today best players simply have a fotographic memory of the opening and all their variations. I would say that players with Standard Chess rating over > 2700 are not winning this type of chess in which memorization of the opening up to 20 or 30 moves is NOT required. Therefore, players like Morozevich,Alexan GM 2743, Ponomariov,Ruslan GM 2722, Grischuk,Alexande GM 2720, Bacrot,Etienne GM 2712 whiche were the favorite to win did NOT win and Almasi, Zoltan GM 2644 surprised everybody.
