Subject: Muzio Gambit (King's Gambit) Volatile Line

Author: Ed Trice

I find it interesting that certain chess engines (without books) seem to avoid
inflicting additional punishment in aggressive tactical lines in the Muzio.

example:

1. e4 e5 2. f4 exf4 3. Nf3 g5 4. Bc4 g4 5. O-O gxf3 6. Qxf3 Qf6

White is down a knight, and programs seem to want to head for tranquility with
7. d3 instead of the fireeworks:

7. e5! Qxe5 8. Bxf7+! Kxf7 9. d4 Qxd4+ 10. Be3!

I would be interested in knowing how various programs play from each of the
diagrammed positions without books, and if any of them have book play for
10...Qg7.
