Imagine that the opponents could buy a copy of kasparov or kramnik. Do you think that kasparov or kramnik could score better than shredder? SMK did not operate Shredder and latest Shredder was not used but only the commercial Shredder8. It is possible that programs can be 200 elo weaker or more than it in these conditions You simply cannot use the result of shredder8 to learn something about the real rating of shredder. In the real world you cannot buy the opponent and the best that you can do is to watch previous games. If Falcon is going to play against humans then I am going to take the results seriously. If Shredder does it then it is another uninteresting event that tells me nothing except something like shredder is not weaker than 2500-2600 level. Uri
