Here in San Diego, I upgraded my Computer from 486DX266 to Cyrix 6x86MX
233Mhz for Under $200. Many Local Computer Stores here offer upgrade kits like
the one I had that included the Case, Power Supply, 32Meg RAM, 2Meg PCI Video
card, MotherBoard, and CPU. I used all the old components I had, like the
monitor, Hard Drive, Floppy Drive, CDrom Drive, Sound card, and Modem. I put it
together myself, but the Store would have charge me $35 if I was going to have
them assemble and set it up for me.
I am pretty happy with my system now, I have quicker running PC programs, and
I have an increase of 135 rating points on my chess programs.
