>I don't think Spassky's appeal to Bush was motivated by the crass money factor >you mention. i wasn't really suggesting he is now motivated by money i don't think Fischer will be making much money from chess again i think its more of a feeling of Gratitude on Spassky's part for the 1992 match and his insistence that Spassky be the challenger, thereby assuring Spassky of hundreds of thousand's of dollars in second place prize money. the whole match itself was bizarre and somewhat surreal everyone pretending that it was a match for the World Championship(Spassky included) . the press conferences got more and more bizarre as the days when on Fischer accusing Karpov-Kasparov of fixing every one of their matches with Spassky "kinda sorta" agreeing that it was a possibility i know he didnt really feel that way,but he had to appease the madman i think Spassky feels a deep sense of gratitude ..so therefore this "offer" by him to be arrested as well(which of course he knows cannot be accepted) Steve
