All the time are the opinions from the past are interesting for me. To see the stations of the developments from all commercial firms is very interesting. With the success of WinBoard and the hard work by different persons the software, GUIs are more interesting for the group of users. To hold the compatibility is in my opinion the most important way we have to go because it was a hard way to have all the interesting engines today. > > > >"> But better with a clear engine >>with clear configuration. Each programmer which released a free chess engine need impressions to make the software better. Believe I know that :-) In this case it's not very important for me to give a support for a free engine or for a commercial engine. For me is an engine an engine. >I do not think that blaming programmers who give free engines is a good >motivation for improvement. I have the same opinion! >You could ask politely that Ed will fix some problems and bugs if he has the >time to fix them without talking about mails that you get(Ed knows that there is >a bug in time management that is not connected with Arena and he is going to fix >it and I see no need to complain about emails to make Ed fixing the problem). Yes, I like it if the programmer find the time to fixed reported problems. But this have not to do with my text Uri. It's for me not easy to give a comment to Eds program because every persons are thinking Frank started an attack. This is wrong but if the persons have a better feeling if the persons thinking Frank started an attack is this OK for me. You know it ... Black and white or good or bad! Much persons search bad things ... Example: Person like the engine of Ed and are fans of this software ... much of this persons search now bad things in others persons because the persons need it ... good or bad! I have no problems with it! Maybe you can understand ... for me it's not easy to give a comment about for me totaly normally things. The danger is that different others are searching the bad things is such postings. For computer chess fora normaly. Do you have an other opinion? > >Ed does not sell Rebel now and he has no duty to fix bugs or support people who >have problems. OH, I see the software Rebel as commercial software. Much dealers for sell the software, do you know it? The program ProDeo is free and booth programs are great. For me not a different because I have the program from Ed on my Harddisk and have fun. At the moment more with Rebel because the engines works really good under Arena without adapter / converter and without any for me know problems. > >" >>And now: >>Thanks for your answer and to help us to make ProDeo more compatible to Arena. >>If you need any helps I can send you all information about it after a bigger >>test. I have the information because I must give support by mail to different >>persons and test your ProDeo under Arena." > >You complain that you must give support to different persons and test ProDeo. Unfortunately, reason are discuss about ProDeo in Arena fora. So I donwload ProDeo for check the problems. I need two hours for it and much hours for the mails I got. This is OK for me because I like it to help since years but my intention is it to make the software a little bit more user friendly. The problem I know is more or less that ProDeo are playing ... I believe ... 120 moves. This is for Arena tournament a little bit danger because the tourneys run automatically and the tourneys stops after Rebel games with more as 120 moves. I have not check it because the ProDeo games I saw are really fast to end. Rebel is very strong and maybe Rebel don't need more as 120 moves :-) >There is no rule that force you to test ProDeo or to reply emails about ProDeo >problems so I do not think that this complain has a basis. This is right but it seems so that I am a person where others send support mails. Perhaps my problem in the latest 6 years with all what I do and the most know that I try to give as soon as possible helps. The problem is only my time. Ed are member of Arena forum for a long time but don't read the forum. I have no problems to asked in CCC because it seems that Ed like this forum more. Best Frank >Uri
