Greetings: I am writing to inform you that I have resigned as the Diep´s Book Opening Creator after three years of being supporting the Diep Project. During the previous two years there were a clear isolation between the book and the Diep engine. Mainly, it was quite impossible to test the engine with typical positions where the Diep engine could react satisfactory after the Opening. A lot of engine stuff done by Diepeveen in other areas not related to the Diep evaluation stopped an effective and integral testing between the opening book and the Diep engine. On the contrary, during 2004 I began to receive Diep engines, free of critical crashes and Vincent Diepeveen began to work in several issues of the Diep evaluation. Such a joined and synchronized work began to show the first remarkable results: ICT4 and the WCCC2004 places. At the same time, the personal differences between my points of view and the Diepeveen´s ones in different topics created an impassable barrier for an effective communication. My resignation should have happened before WCCC2004. However, I had promised Diepeveen to provide a new Book for WCC2004 so my promise had to be completed. The book was provided and the result is there: 3rd. Place in the WCC2004. Of course, the Diep Project will find a new opening book responsible during the coming months. However, that new book responsible will have a difficult challenge in order to understand all the complexities, problems and appropiated openings for Diep, since it is obvious that he will have to begin with a new complete opening repertoire and a complete new book in only a few months. All the help in the direction of the Diep´s Project has been unselfish and free on my behalf. I enjoyed the investigation of new moves, looking for ideas in hundreds of games....and reading a lot of books: My chess library already has a good number of chess titles because of those activities. By the way, I will be dedicated to other activities out of the chess computer area, because I have had enough of computer chess with the Diep Project. Regards, Arturo Ochoa M.
