James, Thanks for trying GES. I got a similar message when I tried using SSE2 [compiler option] on my Athlon XP +1700. so now it is set to use SSE. maybe it is something to do with that, or another option I have turned on. I havent spent much time in the area of 'portability' :( Any help would be appreciated..... -David
