If an engine has a two point advantage over the it's nearest rival going into the penultimate round, for example, it would be silly to risk losing by pushing for a win. Playing for a draw right from the start of the game makes sense. This is, of course, the way professional players are thinking, because they are chasing prize money, not trying to be flash by producing dazzling combo's which, if backfire, could cost them thousands of dollars. All this means setting a program up for a tournament, as opposed to a series of unrelated games. regards Lin
