Chess programs do not get hundreds of games against FIDE or USCF opponents, so any rating is some kind of wild extrapolation based upon performance against other computers. Nonetheless, the chess programs like CM6000 will clobberize 99.999% of the human opponents that they face. IOW, the ratings are not meaningless, but direct comparison is impossible.
