In my book that alone has repaid any debt you and your company owed the community. That being said... IMHO, back to USENET would be a nightmare, and while voluntary contributions sound nice I doubt if they would work. Option (a) is just iffy, witness the problems we had getting anyone to host the search engine. My preference is for (c). I *never* read CTF, (the few times I've tried I was completely turned off by the tone of the discourse) and so would rather not pay for it. On the other hand, I would be willing to pay a reasonable fee for CCC. This even has the upside that it will likely keep a few trolls away, since they often post under temporary pseudonyms. Of course, we would lose some excellent posters, (I think Anthony expressed doubt about his willingness to pay) but that may be the price to pay for continued service. It might be viable to give certain types of discounts, (i.e. student, educational, etc.) although that could open up an entirely different can of worms. just my 2-cents, --tom
