Jorge,

The match between Hydra and Shredder 8 is a hardware contest.  If the program's
roles could be reversed, I think the outcome could also be reversed.  No one has
proven Hydra would be the "perfect" or strongest chess program if used on
similar hardware.  The key word in your declaration is "perfect machine" and not
"perfect program."  It's difficult for the best chess programmers to compete
with Arab oil money unless someone wealthy enough wants to sponsor the hardware
purchase.

Would anyone wish to guess the cost of the Hydra hardware?

Hydra should be entered into the next WCCC, that may give an inkling of its
potential.
