Hydra beat Shredder due to its superior hardware. 2. Human Vs Machine (like Kasparove Vs Deep Blue) games always have dice loaded in favour of machines: (a) You can study all the games Kasparove played and accordingly plan your openings/tweak your playing style, while Kasparove gets to analyze _none_ of the deep blue games. This is a strong (and unfair) advantage. (b) Computer programs can use tablebases, allowing them perfect play in endings - access to extra knowledge which humans don't have. Can Kasparov consult a ending book during a match? Give kasparov 100 Hydra games to analyze & then play a match against him. He will bury Hydra. He was able to go toe to toe with deep blue, a machine a order of magnitude faster than Hydra. He can defintely handle Hydra. Regards, Pallav
