Bob,
I waited a bit, to not disturb a beginning sicussion. What surprised me now,
that nobody did recommand a sort of PR in the CCC for Steve's ICD.
I wanna make this quite clear. Usenet were a good alternative with a moderated
RGCC2 group, but why throw away the established label and state. CCC to me as a
lay and a German, is the only forum for computerchess, where, thanks to the
freedom of the USA, we can debate without always being insulted. I saw it during
the difficult and delicate topic about ElChinito. Where if not in CCC I could
possibly give my (lay) contribution with just a couple of aspects in such a
friendly atmosphere? Everywhere else people would have yelled, oh that bastard,
never has tested a tournament or engine but he dares to talk about a man who is
in the boat for 20 years. In truth I just assisted Paul H who was defamed
although he did nothing than brilliant science and its application. It's NOT
that I wouldn't pay for my freedom, but honestly, I couldn't tolerate say
certain sorts of mods who provenly behaved odd as members. They were still
elected like Tom. If I had to pay for my place here and someone like Tom were
mod, that could become a real pain in the ass.
Please do consider possibilities how Steve could legally and with our support
offer his products. If they are with a good price it would even interest
Germans. Let's try a typically American solution. Let's try a commercial issue.
But to collect cash is really problematic. Although, Bob, what could be with a
combination with a special offer from ICC. Since I don't play too much myself, I
always found the price ugly. But if we could combine it with CCC/CTF that would
be at least another motif to enter. - BTW the ChessBase server in Germany is
still for free and I did also play some games yet.

                     ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
