Any fee would be a drop in the bucket to the amount i spend on Computer Chess software, books, learning materials, etc.. So i wouldn't think twice about paying a fee to keep the CCC Forum. There is loads of information that can be gleaned from this Computer Chess forum that can't be purchased anywhere else. I don't understand why anyone seriously interested in Computer Chess would get angry about paying a fee for such a valuable resource.
