Uh, excuse me, but you mean 1996, right?

Lots of knowledge was added to DB between the first and second match
and in 1997, Kasparov was defeated, with GK making all sorts of bogus claims
of cheating, throwing his hands up and marching at the camera at game 6,
embarassing everybody at the podium afterwards, being an extremely sore, poor
and ungratious loser.
