Hi, I'll give my opinion, just in case you want to compile what is the general feeling. this is mine : I'm a chess engine programmer and as is I think that CCC is for now the greatest source of information in that domain and I think it has helped a lot developping chess programmings techniques in the past seven years, so it should not disapear. however I will not pay for a membership, since I think speach should be free, and I'm not interested to pay for this especially if I can read it trough the archives. I don't think i'm the only one that wont. So has Bob hyatt said making ccc a paying forum will be is death. As someone else said we could try to reduce bandwith by disabling the "reply with quoting" option, maybe it will cut the traffic by 40-50 percent, maybe more. Google ads, may also be a good way to raise some cash, depending on how much cost the bandwidth, maybe it will not be enough. Maybe we can get sponsor of a couple of dolars / year from other organisations such as ICGA. If none of this alternative are kept and ccc become a paying forum, I sugest that we use an alternative board (maybe the proposition of Peter or Andrei) fot thoses who don't want to pay. It is sad we'd have to split the community, but it seem that icd chess are no longer willing to pay, but are not willing to let someone else administrate CCC. So this was my two cents. Mathieu P.
