Well, I have come to FRC by trying how to force an engine not to skip the opening phase of a chess game by using huge libraries, but instead to improve its handling of openings by its own intelligence. See also: [http://www.chessbox.de/Compu/schachfair_e.html] But for human beeings it is also interesting. Not all of us have the time to study opening theory intensivly. FRC gives those people and young newcomers to the game of chess a chance to easy take the initial barrier and getting familiar with playing chess intuitivly instead of reproducing knowledge written down for centuries.
