I don't particularly like to "bash" anyone.  But I am prone to "tell it like it
is..."  For example, how close to the actual WCCC event this year was it before
the players were even announced?

I can recall years past (Jakarta, 1996 for example) where we got _no_
information whatsoever;  or another (Paris 1997) where Thorsten used his cell
phone to get results out of the event playing site.  Not great.  Yes, I probably
should have known who participated, but I didn't.  I can probably tell you the
top few for any ACM event or WCCC I ever played in.  But not every
participant...

Blame it on old age, lack of interest, etc. :)
