The best spyware removal program AFAIK, and constantly updated, is Ad-Aware at
http://www.lavasoft.de  There's a good freeware version you can download and use
(updates and all).

If the issue is merely one of advertising pop-ups in the browser, you might
consider getting a decent browser other than MS's IE. I don't even have an icon
for it on my desktop nowadays. I use Mozilla's Firefox, a light browser that is
full of better options, including killing those nasty pop-ups, and even an
integrated Google search at the top (no need for an extra toolbar to download).
