There certainly are.  There are _lots_ that said, around 1997-1999 "It will take
micro hardware at least 10 years to catch up to DBs speed."

Does that say "micros will _never_ be able to beat DB?"  Nope.  Not even close.
He just likes to take my name and use it for no good reason, _particularly_ when
I am not around to defend against his nonsense...

I had _plenty_ of factual basis.  I cited the ACM events from 1987 through 1994
where they blew everyone out.  They beat Kasparov, something nobody else has
done through 2004.  Their speed was well-known at 200M nodes per second.  It
will likely be 2007 before a micro can approach that.  Even Hydra, using its own
special-purpose hardware is not even 1/4 of that speed today.
