I know that CAP supposed to be an Openings database. My question is, what is
the goal of this project. Is the end result intended as a corrected Openings
book that many Chess Engines can use? If it is, I think it may be more of
repeating the efforts of the Programmers of the Chess Engines, because are
already are upgrading the opening book everytime they would come out with a
program update (weed out the bad lines, etc)
If it is intended for serious player to develop their opening reperotire in
human tournaments, then it be most beneficial that either the MCO (Modern Chess
Opening 13th Ed) or the BCO (Batsford Chess Openings) be converted to a computer
format and updated yearly (Nobody has come up with one yet).
If its goal to be encyclopedic like the ECO, the why not just come out with
the corrections to the ECO, since the ECO is already available on CDrom.
