This has nothing to do with counting wrong Christopher.
Both counted right, last move was ply 100, you missunderstood
Gabor. Crafty is wrong because it has a bug assuming 50 moves
rule would even apply when mated.
Arena has only a little bug showing that 50 moves draw comment,
but at least it showed the result 1-0 correctly.
It's simply mate comes first and you can't claim anything after that ;)
