[D]r3k2r/ppp1qpp1/2pp1/2p5/2b2b1p/2P1pPn1/1P2P1PP/PB1PB3/RN1QK2Rb This position is from Larsen-Spaasky, a famous game which I always used to test chess programs with. The earlier programs never used to get it right, even the later Rh1!! by white, even after many days thought. But now, even a free program like Arasan gets the next move 11...h4!! after only about 1h and 35mins.and before 2 hours, it displays a full sequence with a clear plus number (of well over 2 Pawns) I'm sorry about not saying every little detail, but I reconstructed this actual position from long-term (human) memmory, before testing it on Arasan. There followed in the game ....h4 12(i think)PXN PXP 13.Rg1 Rh1!! Do other programs get 11...h4!! much less than 2 hours, in a way that the program doesn't suddenly change its mind, but is convinced about it? Which programs get it, and how quick? Oh! My computer was 1.6 Ghz, intel. So some computer might get it quite a bit sooner with Arasan 8, let alone other programs. Oh Ohhhhhh! Try these opening moves 1.b3 e5 2.Bb2 Nc6 3.Nc4 Nf6 4.Nf3 e4 5.Nd4 Bc5 6.Nxc6 d:c6 7.e3 Bf5 8.Be2 Qe7 9.f4 Ng4 10.g3 h5 11.h3....awaiting...... H4!!! Whew! What alot of work! I hope the diagram comes out well! Now I'm pressing "post message" S.Taylor
